This is the story of the origins of "Snooty," the oldest living manatee - born in captivity in 1948, and Sam Stout who was the owner and operator of the Miami Aquarium and the Miami Aquarium Tackle Company at the time of "Snooty's" birth - from August 1947 until the day the city of Miami tore out the tanks on the old Prins Valdemar and released his beloved animals into the bay (February 21, 1950).
